Holmans Bookshop

Established in 1920, Holman's is Whitby's Oldest Independent Bookshop. On 9 November 2025 we are celebrating our 105th birthday. We are also participating in Whitby's first literary festival which takes place between 6 and 9 November. Check out our events page for our Lit Fest fringe events.

We are situated on Skinner Street on Whitby's West Cliff. Spread over three floors our shop offers newspapers, stationery, jigsaws, greetings cards, books, toys and gifts to both local and visiting customers. Built in 1768, its building is Grade II Listed.
